cozybit collaborated with Marvell to create the first laptop capable of communicating over a mesh network for the One Laptop Per Child Foundation. We started working on wireless mesh for OLPC in January of 2006, implementing the embedded wireless mesh stack and improvements to the driver, a wake-on-wireless feature, and support for the power save mode. The first prototypes with fully functional mesh were released on April 2007. We also developed a driver that converts XO laptops into 802.11 Access Points.
